She was a student at the schools of seven and 4 colleges, earning an undergraduate degree from The American University in Cairo, Egypt, MA degrees from the University of Kent at Canterbury and Leeds Beckett University, and an honorary doctorate in the field of education from Lancaster University, as well as an honorary PGCE and honorary doctorate awarded by Sheffield Hallam University.
