          Hamill was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Chalmers and Carol Hamill. Her father was a mechanical engineer.[1] Shortly after her birth, her family moved to the Riverside neighborhood of Greenwich, Connecticut, where Hamill spent the rest of her childhood.
