          Biography

          Martin O'Meara, VC,[1] (6 Nov 1885 – 20 Dec 1935) was an Irish-born Australian recipient of the Victoria Cross

          O'Meara was born at Terryglass, Lorrha, County Tipperary. He was the youngest of Michael and Margaret O'Meara's 6 children.

          1901 Irish Census When he was 15 years of age, his family were recorded in the 1901 Irish Census as living at Lissernane, Lorrha East in County Tipperary [2][3] He spent his early years in County Tipperary and by 1911 had moved to County Kilkenny where he was working as a wood cutter.
